Using the power of music to strengthen mental and physical health

COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Useful Info
So what do the singers do in the SingSwingSing! sessions?
Each week the singers will work on their chosen song with a course leader
and a star pianist,
focusing on one of the six essential skills required to perform the music of the Swing era. In week 7 the singers perform in an informal 'show' for their family and friends, then in week 8 we perform in the community, at a local care home.
I'd rather not sing, but I'd still like to get involved.
OK, I'm interested, but when do the SingSwingSing! workshops start?
There are spaces for 'audience' members, who will provide moral support and feedback to the singers, while also learning from watching the process unfold, and enjoying the social aspects of being in a group of like-minded people.
We recently ran an 8 week SingSwingSing! course in Hinckley, and we're currently applying for more funding to run further courses. Once we receive funding we'll advertise in your area. Please keep an eye on the local press, and check back here regularly.
Are you inclusive?
Music is for everyone, and music touches everyone's heart, regardless of skin colour, origin, identity or religious beliefs. Music For Wellbeing CIC believes that an inclusive society is the best society. We therefore welcome participants from all sections of the communities in which we organise activities.
For SingSwingSing! - do I need to have previous singing experience?
No! You don't have to be a great singer. We're not looking for the next X factor finalist! You just need a love of the music and a willingness to commit to the course.
What other activities are you planning to offer?
We review potential activities on an ongoing basis, but at the moment we are looking at ways of setting up sustainable community tea dances.
If you have any ideas, get in touch!
What do the
activities cost?
Our founding principles dictate that we offer our activities at low or no cost to participants. We receive donations from private individuals, and grants from funding bodies. These pay for all associated costs. Strategic partners also provide support-in-kind. We are always keen to hear from companies, individuals and organisations willing to help fund our activities.
